Resumo: The present work of this objective of understanding how the conception (conceptions) of quality of the Private Higher Education expressed in the Ensino Supeiror Magazine (SEMESP) is treated, in the context of marketing, In the period from 2000 to 2010. Thus, the historical process of Expansion of Brazilian Private Higher Education was described, helping in the understanding of the quality conception of Higher Education in the Journal. In this sense, we consider that the evaluation is a means to measure if a course/institution has or not quality. In order to do so, the use of Political Epistemology (ROTHEN, 2004) was used as a methodological method for the analysis of the Journal of Higher Education, seeking to understand and understand the collective patterns (epistemology) of the Journal that guided their respective groups of editors in Propagation of their ideas, that is, their legitimation procedures. As a result, from the analyzes carried out during the period proposed by the investigation, it was understood that the magazine expresses a more focused focus on the private sector and the expansion of the same, in order to present information that helps the institutions as a means of assistance Informational. They also point out that marketing is important for the Journal, which encompasses how to propagate which courses or IES have achieved high marks/concepts in evaluations and how they did it. It was also noted that both the term evaluation and its designations as well as the term quality are not widely used, which leads us to consider that they are not matters that the Journal considers important for disclosure. It should be emphasized that, during the period investigated, there was no quality concept defined by the Journal, but it is understood that in order to have quality it is necessary to go through the evaluation processes, seeking to improve the aspects that are with unsatisfactory results, besides having good professionals And that are constantly updated. Dessa forma, descreveu-se o processo histórico de Expansão do Ensino Superior privado brasileiro, auxiliando na compreensão de qual foi a concepção de qualidade do Ensino Superior na Revista. Neste sentido, consideramos que a avaliação é um meio para medir se um curso/instituição tem ou não qualidade. Para tanto, fez-se uso da Epistemologia Política proposta por Rothen (2004) como forma metodológica para a realização das análises da Revista Ensino Superior, procurando conhecer e compreender quais foram os padrões coletivos (epistemologia) da Revista que orientaram seus respectivos grupos de editores na propagação de suas ideias, isto é, seus procedimentos de legitimação. Como resultados, a partir das análises realizadas durante o período proposto pela investigação, compreendeu-se que a Revista expressa um foco mais voltado para o setor privado e à expansão do mesmo, de modo a apresentar informações que auxiliem as instituições como um meio de assistência informacional. Indicam ainda, que há importância do marketing para a Revista, o que engloba o modo de propagar quais cursos ou IES conseguiram notas/conceitos altos nas avaliações e como o fizeram. Notou-se também, que tanto o termo avaliação e suas designações como o termo qualidade não são muito empregados, o que nos leva a considerar que não são assuntos que a Revista considera como importantes para divulgação. Destaca-se que, o período investigado, não houve uma concepção de qualidade definida pela Revista, mas entende-se que para se ter qualidade é preciso passar pelos processos avaliativos, buscando aprimorar os aspectos que estão com resultados insatisfatórios, além de possuir bons profissionais e que estejam em constante atualização. A partir da classificação tem-se, então, uma base de qual instituição possui ou não qualidade, sendo que, para a Revista, é preciso apontar os aspectos a serem melhorados, bem como acompanhar o mercado de trabalho, com atualização de cursos para atender às demandas do mercado. Por fim, os resultados demonstram que, apesar de ser um meio para encontrar problemas dos cursos/instituições, a avaliação e nota obtida é responsável por pontuar a qualidade, mesmo sendo ela polissêmica.
