Resumo: Faced with the growing scenario of the consumer market, which have been looking for composed of ingredients that are less harmful to humans and the environment, the research on natural products has become increasingly relevant, especially in the beauty and personal care sector. The world cosmetics market has shown excellent growth, especially when the product stands out for “green manufacturing”. Thus, a series of plants and roots have been used as a source of natural pigments to be used in cosmetics with color. Therefore, through a literature review, this work was developed in order to elucidate the concepts of natural cosmetics and the light-absorbing properties of inorganic pigments. The motivation for the development, is due to my proximity to the cosmetics sector during the internship period and for the interest in studying the electronic properties and structural pigments responsible for coloring

O mercado mundial de cosméticos tem apresentado um excelente crescimento, especialmente quando o produto se destaca pela ‘’fabricação verde’’. Assim, uma série de plantas e raízes tem sido utilizados como fonte de pigmentos naturais para serem utilizados em cosméticos com cor. Portanto, por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica, este trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de elucidar sobre os conceitos de cosméticos naturais e sobre as propriedades de absorção de luz de pigmentos inorgânicos.
