People with Disabilities and COVID-19 in the state of Espírito Santo: Between invisibility and the lack of Public Policies

Resumo: | Objectives: to analyze the epidemiological profile of people with disabilities infected with SARS-CoV-2 notified in Espírito Santo. Method: Comparative study among people with disabilities with positive and negative tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19. Associations of test results and epidemiological and clinical variables were made using the chi-square test. The level of significance was 5%. Results: there were statistically significant differences between the two groups in relation to gender with more positives in females, age group with more positives in the 20 to 79 years age bracket, color race with more positives in white race, municipalities with more positives in greater Vitória, all with p <0.05. The lethality of 4.9% (175 cases) of death by COVID-19 in the group of people with disabilities, and 3% (3,016) in the group without disabilities. Conclusions: The pandemic emphasizes the need to create specific legal care mechanisms and targeted public policies for this population. |

Las asociaciones de los resultados de las pruebas y las variables epidemiológicas y clínicas se realizaron mediante la prueba de chi-cuadrado. El nivel de significancia fue del 5%. Resultados: hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los dos grupos en relación al género con más positivos en mujeres, grupo de edad con más positivos en el tramo de edad de 20 a 79 años, raza de color con más positivos en raza blanca, municipios con más positivos en el gran Vitória, todos con p <0,05. La letalidad del 4,9% (175 casos) de muerte por COVID-19 en el grupo de personas con discapacidad, y del 3% (3.016) en el grupo sin discapacidad. Conclusiones: La pandemia enfatiza la necesidad de crear mecanismos legales específicos de atención y políticas públicas focalizadas para esta población.Objetivos: analisar o perfil epidemiológico das pessoas com deficiência infectadas com o SARS-CoV-2 notificadas no Espírito Santo. Método: Estudo comparativo entre as pessoas com deficiência com testes positivos e negativos para o diagnóstico de COVID-19. Foram realizadas associações dos resultados do teste e as variáveis epidemiológicas e clínicas, pelo teste qui-quadrado. O nível de significância foi de 5%. Resultados: houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre os dois grupos em relação ao gênero com mais positivos no feminino, faixa etária com mais positivos nas faixas de 20 a 79 anos, raça cor com mais positivos na raça branca, municípios com mais positivos na grande Vitória, todos com p<0,05. A letalidade de 4,9% (175 casos) de morte por COVID-19 no grupo das pessoas com deficiência, e 3% (3.016) no grupo sem deficiência.
