PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF THE GRADUATE IN CHEMISTRY: PERSPECTIVES FOR THEIR FUTURE FIELD OF ACTIVITY

Resumo: This work is part of a case study on newly graduated students with a maximum of 5 years of the Degree in Chemistry at the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais – Ubá unit - MG. We analyzed the school and academic trajectories as well as the future performance in the job market so far. We adopted a qualitative approach seeking the reality of the professional profile of the graduate in Chemistry. The exploratory research method was used through the application of two semi-structured questionnaires aimed at professionals trained in a degree in Chemistry who work or not as teachers. In our analysis, the vast majority, about 85% of respondents, have a paid activity related to chemistry, either as a teacher or chemist in the industry. The academic conditions of the institution were analyzed according to the academic preparation of the graduates. Highlights, such as the integration of graduates into the academic and industrial labor market, are favorable to the academic quality of the institution. The portraits point to a formative trajectory between social and academic integration, favored by the teaching, research and extension projects offered at the university.

Analizamos las trayectorias escolares y académicas, así como el desempeño futuro en el mercado laboral hasta el momento. Adoptamos un enfoque cualitativo buscando la realidad del perfil profesional del licenciado en Química. Se utilizó el método de investigación exploratoria mediante la aplicación de dos cuestionarios semiestructurados dirigidos a profesionales formados en la carrera de Química que se desempeñen o no como docentes. En nuestro análisis, la gran mayoría, alrededor del 85% de los encuestados, tiene una actividad remunerada relacionada con la química, ya sea como docente o químico en la industria. Se analizaron las condiciones académicas de la institución de acuerdo a la preparación académica de los egresados. Destacados, como la integración de los egresados ​​al mercado laboral académico e industrial, son favorables a la calidad académica de la institución. Los retratos apuntan a una trayectoria formativa entre la integración social y académica, favorecida por los proyectos de docencia, investigación y extensión que ofrece la universidad.Este estudo de caso é sobre alunos recém-formados com um máximo de 5 anos do curso de Licenciatura em Química pela Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais – unidade de Ubá – MG. Analisamos as trajetórias escolares e acadêmicas bem como a futura atuação no mercado de trabalho até o momento. Adotamos uma abordagem qualitativa buscando a realidade do perfil profissional do formado em Licenciatura em Química. Utilizou-se o método de pesquisa exploratória através da aplicação de dois questionários semiestruturados direcionados a profissionais formados em Licenciatura em Química que atuam ou não como professores. Em nossa análise a imensa maioria, cerca de 85% dos entrevistados, exercem atividade remunerada relacionada à química, seja como professor ou químico na indústria. Analisou-se as condições acadêmicas da instituição de acordo com o preparo acadêmico dos licenciados. Os pontos em destaque, como a integração dos licenciados no mercado de trabalho acadêmico e industrial, são favoráveis a qualidade acadêmica da instituição.
