Resumo: Objective: To know the perceptions and feelings of the nursing team about changes in protocols in the operating room in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, carried out in the Surgical Center of a hospital in southern Brazil, using a semi-structured questionnaire, analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results: Four categories were identified, evidencing: obstacles in the face of new routines and changes in the workplace; increased anxiety despite established protocols; care proposals aimed at better protection against infection; opinions about the effectiveness of the implemented protocols. Final considerations: The lack of leadership, training on protocols and their follow-up, changes in routines and the virus, were indicated as causes of increased anxiety in the team. The results indicate the need for training protocols for future pandemics and training nursing leaders
