Resumo: “What can youth give us? What can youth expect from us?” With these two questions, Karl Mannheim introduces his text “The problem of youth in modern society”. In 2004, this author's questions motivated the research “Youth, Civic Culture and Citizenship”, whose objective was to listen to young people who were born in a democratic context after the 1988 Constitution and identify their perceptions on the research themes. Furthermore, there was also the hypothesis that social inequalities forged in the daily lives of young people would produce different perceptions among them, therefore, it was decided to carry out a comparison between the perceptions of young students from public schools and private schools present in three regions of the city of Rio de Janeiro (South Zone, Tijuca and Barra da Tijuca). In 2018, the research was resumed following the same methodological criteria with the aim of identifying changes and continuations in young people's perceptions 15 years after the first survey was carried out.

O que a juventude pode esperar de nós?” Com essas duas perguntas, Karl Mannheim introduz seu texto “O problema da juventude na sociedade moderna”. As perguntas deste autor motivaram no ano de 2004 a pesquisa “Juventude, Cultura cívica e cidadania”, cujo objetivo era auscultar os jovens que nasceram em um contexto democrático pós Constituição de 1988 e identificar suas percepções sobre os temas da pesquisa. Além disso, havia ainda a hipótese de que as desigualdades sociais forjadas nos cotidianos dos jovens produziriam percepções diferentes entre eles, por isso, optou-se por realizar uma comparação entre as percepções dos jovens estudantes da rede pública e da rede particular de escolas presentes em três regiões da cidade do Rio de Janeiro (Zona Sul, Tijuca e Barra da Tijuca).
