Resumo: Nowadays, due to the social and learning context, it takes more than the objective knowledge of the subjects, on the part of teachers. New skills related to communication and leadership are required. The objective of this research was to develop an instrument to evaluate the profile in relation to the leadership of the teaching staff of a Veterinary Medicine course, at an University in the state of São Paulo. A structured questionnaire was applied, composed of 5 domains to assess leadership skills. The construct was considered reliable and made it possible to evaluate the characteristics and leadership skills that prevailed in the faculty members, as well as other aspects that should be emphasized. The greatest deficiencies found refer to the domains related to the relationship with students, the teaching-learning process and the encouragement of humanistic skills. On the other hand, two domains that reveal the teachers' concern in setting a good example to be followed, and skills in stimulating and motivating students were the strong points. The results allow the conclusion that the instrument corresponds an important tool to be used to identify the leadership of teachers and represents an initial strategy for the Teacher Professional Development program.

Se requieren nuevas habilidades relacionadas con la comunicación y el liderazgo. El objetivo de esta investigación fue desarrollar un instrumento para evaluar el perfil en relación al liderazgo del cuerpo docente de um curso de Medicina Veterinaria, en una Universidad en el estado de Sao Paulo. Por lo tanto, fue aplicado um cuationario estructurado, compuesto por 5 domínios para evaluación de habilidade de liderazgo. El constructo fue considerado confiable y fue posible evaluar las características y habilidades del liderazgo, que están más presentes en los professores del curso, bien como puntos que deben ser trabajados com mas énfasis. Las mayores deficiencias encontradas están relacionadas a los domínios referentes a la relación con los estudiantes, al processo de enseñanza-aprendizaje y al estímulo de las competências humanísticas. Por el contrario, los dominios que revelan características relacionadas con la preocupación del docente por ser el ejemplo a seguir y el que identifica a los docentes que buscan alentar y motivar a los estudiantes, obtuvieron promedios más altos. Se concluye que el instrumento corresponde una herramienta importante a ser utilizada en la identificación del liderazgo de professores y representa una estrategia inicial para el programa de Desarrollo Profesional Docente.Nos dias de hoje, em função do contexto social e educacional, é preciso mais que oconhecimento objetivo das disciplinas, por parte dos professores. Novas habilidades relacionadas a comunicação e a liderança são demandadas. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi desenvolver um instrumento para avaliar o perfil em relação à liderança do corpo docente de um curso de Medicina Veterinária, em uma universidade do estado de São Paulo. Para tanto, foi aplicado um questionário estruturado, composto por 5 domínios para avaliação da habilidade de liderança. O construto foi considerado confiável e foi possível avaliar as características e habilidades de liderança que estão mais presentes nos professores do curso, bem como pontos que devem ser trabalhados com mais foco. As maiores deficiências encontradas estão relacionadas aos domínios referentes ao relacionamento com os estudantes, ao processo de ensino aprendizagem e ao estímulo às competências humanísticas (não técnicas). Em contrapartida, os domínios que revelam características relacionados à preocupação do docente em ser o exemplo a ser seguido e aquele que identifica docentes que procuram incentivar e motivar os estudantes, foram os pontos fortes.
