LITERACIES IN A NON-FORMAL EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT: A FUSION OF FORCES

Resumo: This article weaves understandings around literacy practices of adolescents promoted by a social organization in the periphery of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a non-formal educational context. It is based on a theoretical-methodological framework affiliated both to Literacy Studies and to the enunciative-discursive Bakhtinian approach. It apprehends, beyond regularities, the meanings attributed to these literacy actions, which reveal themselves in actors’ interactions and positionings within these experiences. The analytical corpus is made up by field notes, transcriptions of video recordings of literacy events and discursive products of four adolescents and a social educator. These take place in circles of conversation and semi structured interviews. Results suggest the concomitant occurrence of both traces of school form and culture and collaborative modes involving the mobilization of multimode gender, run through by orality, affection and body. Participants may express and recognize themselves, acting with greater autonomy and reassurance as far as literacies of other social spheres go.

Se basa en un marco teórico-metodológico afiliado a los Nuevos Estudios de Literacidad y al enfoque enunciativo-discursivo bakhtiniano, en el cual busca aprehender, además de regularidades, los significados atribuidos a estas literacidades por parte de los participantes, dimensiones que se revelan tanto en sus interacciones cuanto en sus posicionamientos sobre estas experiencias. El corpus de análisis está compuesto por notas de campo, transcripciones de videograbaciones de eventos letrados y producciones discursivas de cuatro adolescentes y un educador social, en situaciones de círculos de conversación y entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados indican que, al mismo tiempo que se observan trazos de la forma y de la cultura escolar en algunas de las actividades propuestas, así como en los modos de interacción entre el educador y los adolescentes, las prácticas letradas de la organización revelan formas colaborativas, con la movilización de géneros discursivos multimodales, permeados por la oralidad, el cuerpo y el afecto, en los que los participantes pueden expresarse y reconocerse, actuando con mayor autonomía y seguridad en las literacidades de otros ámbitos sociales.Este artigo tece compreensões sobre as práticas de letramento de adolescentes, promovidas por uma organização social, na periferia de São Paulo, em um contexto de educação não formal. Fundamenta-se num quadro teórico-metodológico filiado aos Estudos do Letramento e à abordagem enunciativo-discursiva bakhtiniana, apreendendo, além das regularidades, os significados atribuídos a esses letramentos que se revelam nas interações e posicionamentos sobre essas experiências pelos participantes. O corpus de análise é composto por notas de campo, transcrições de gravações em vídeo de eventos de letramento e produções discursivas de quatro adolescentes e de um educador social, em situações de rodas de conversa e entrevista semiestruturada.
