THE OFFICIAL NORMAL SCHOOL OF PERNAMBUCO: STRATEGIES AND TACTICS OF PRODUCTION OF "SCHOOLIZED TEACHING" BETWEEN THE YEARS 1864 AND 1880

Resumo: | This text aims to analyze the strategies and tactics of teaching formation and certification granted by the Official Normal School de Pernambuco (Brazil) between 1864 and 1880. Through the simple, direct and complete transcription (ARÓSTEGUI, 2006) of the documental records in the Annals of the Assembly of Pernambuco, in the petitions sent to the provincial deputies, in the regulations of the Escola Normal, in the legislations and reports of public instruction, as well as in some magazines, it was mobilized the categories "experience" (THOMPSON, 1981), "tactics" and "strategies" (DE CERTEAU, 1994), aiming to weave the ways in which government authorities, normalist students and Pernambuco primary public teachers, according to their positions, constructed meanings regarding the production of "schooled teaching" - training of teachers to work in the primary public teaching - promoted by the Normal School. It is concluded that, from the mid-1860's to the 1880's, the Normal School of Pernambuco went from being an indispensable alternative for a formation with rigor and theoretical, practical, and moral quality of primary public teaching; to a place whose internal and external practices were commanded by politicking, or denounced, or muffled by the public power, teachers, students. The practical codes of the trade, long known and applied in the schooling practices of Pernambuco society (SILVA, 2007) crossed and constituted the institutionalized formation of primary public teaching in Pernambuco in the second half of the 19th century. |

A través de la transcripción simple, directa y completa (ARÓSTEGUI, 2006) de los registros documentales en los Anales de la Asamblea de Pernambuco, en las peticiones enviadas a los diputados provinciales, en los reglamentos de la Escola Normal, en la legislación e informes de instrucción pública, así como en algunas revistas, se emplearon las categorías "experiencia" (THOMPSON, 1981), "tácticas" y "estrategias" (DE CERTEAU, 1994), con el objetivo de tejer las formas en que las autoridades gubernamentales, los estudiantes normalistas y los docentes públicos de primaria de Pernambuco, en función de sus posiciones, construyeron significaciones sobre la producción de la "enseñanza escolarizada" -formación de docentes para trabajar en la enseñanza pública primaria- promovida por la Escuela Normal. Se concluye que, desde mediados de la década de 1860 hasta la década de 1880, la Escuela Normal de Pernambuco pasó de ser una alternativa indispensable para una formación con rigor y calidad teórica, práctica y moral para la enseñanza pública primaria; a un lugar cuyas prácticas internas y externas eran comandadas por la politiquería, o denunciadas, o sofocadas por el poder público, los profesores, los alumnos. Los códigos prácticos del oficio, largamente conocidos y aplicados en las prácticas escolares de la sociedad pernambucana (SILVA, 2007) atravesaron y constituyeron la formación institucionalizada de la docencia pública primaria en Pernambuco en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.Este texto pretende analisar as estratégias e táticas de formação e certificação docente concedida pela Escola Normal Oficial de Pernambuco (Brasil) entre 1864 e 1880. Por intermédio da transcrição simples, direta e completa (ARÓSTEGUI, 2006) dos registros documentais nos Anais da Assembleia de Pernambuco, nas petições remetidas aos deputados provinciais, nos regulamentos da Escola Normal, nas legislações e relatórios da instrução pública, bem como em algumas revistas, mobilizou-se as categorias “experiência” (THOMPSON, 1981), “táticas” e “estratégias” (DE CERTEAU, 1994), visando tecer as maneiras pelas quais as autoridades governamentais, os alunos e alunas normalistas e os docentes públicos primários pernambucanos, em função de suas posições, construíram significações com relação à produção da “docência escolarizada” – formação de docentes para atuarem no magistério público primário – promovida pela Escola Normal. Conclui-se que, de meados da década de 1860 até os anos 1880, a Escola Normal de Pernambuco passou de alternativa indispensável para uma formação com rigor e qualidade teórico, prático e moral da docência pública primária para um lugar cujas práticas internas e externas eram comandadas por politicagens, ou denunciadas, ou abafadas pelo poder público, professores e professoras, alunos e alunas.
