THE CHALLENGE OF TEACHING PHYSICAL EDUCATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION

Resumo: This theoretical essay aims to discuss and conceptually articulate Physical Education (PE) teaching presuppositions developed under the knowledge multidimensionality premise, connected with the perspective of a republican and democratic education. The text thematizes some aspects that can be considered decisive to realize this objective, emphasizing the multidimensionality of knowledge and the contents subdimensions, which constitute PE teaching background; educational praxis as a teaching perspective; teaching processes being accompanied by a communicative didactic; research as a pedagogical principle; and didactic-pedagogical process structuring in didactic units. It can be concluded that, even recognizing that the explained proposal may not solve considerable problems in the area, we understand that taking it seriously, including reflecting on the theoretical framework that underpins it, can constitute an interesting way to, at the same time broaden and deepen the debate about teaching PE in Brazilian public schools, from republican and democratic education perspective, finding alternatives for its implementation.

El texto tematiza algunos aspectos que pueden ser considerados determinantes para la realización de este objetivo, con énfasis en la multidimensionalidad del conocimiento y las subdimensiones de los contenidos, que constituyen el la premisa de la enseñanza de la EF; la praxis educativa como perspectiva docente; los procesos de enseñanza siendo acompañados por una didáctica comunicativa; la investigación como principio pedagógico; y la estructuración del proceso didáctico-pedagógico en unidades didácticas. Se puede concluir que, aún reconociendo que la propuesta aquí explicada puede no resolver problemas considerables en el área, entendemos que tomarla en serio, incluyendo reflexionar sobre el marco teórico que la sustenta, puede constituir una vía interesante para, al mismo tiempo, ampliar y profundizar el debate sobre la enseñanza de la EF en las escuelas públicas brasileñas, en la perspectiva de la educación republicana y democrática, encontrando alternativas para su efectividad.Este ensaio teórico tem como objetivo problematizar e articular conceitualmente pressupostos para o ensino de uma Educação Física (EF) desenvolvida sob a premissa da multidimensionalidade dos conhecimentos, conectada com a perspectiva de uma educação republicana e democrática. O texto tematiza alguns aspectos que podem ser considerados determinantes para que se possa dar conta desse objetivo, com destaque para a multidimensionalidade dos conhecimentos e as subdimensões dos conteúdos, que se constituem no pano de fundo para o ensino da EF; a práxis educativa como perspectiva de ensino; os processos de ensino sendo acompanhados por uma didática comunicativa; a pesquisa enquanto um princípio pedagógico; e a estruturação do processo didático-pedagógico em unidades didáticas.
