Resumo: The lack of quality commercial substrate for seedling production and short supply of different rootstocks citrus leave the Rio Grande do Sul State vulnerable. The objective was to evaluate the efficiency of two commercial substrates on the emergency and development of different citrus roottstocks during sowing in the greenhouse. The experiment was carried out in styrofoam trays, testing the substrate: Commercial 1 (Carolina Soil®) and Commercial 2 (Beifiur®) in styrofoan trays were tested. The rootstocks tested were ‘Sunki' (Citrus sunki hort. ex Tan.), 'Flying Dragon' (Poncirus trifoliata var. monstrosa), citrumelo ‘Swingle’ [P. trifoliata (L.) Raf. x C. paradisi Macf.], 'Trifoliate’ [Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.)], 'Volkamer' lemon (C. volkameriana Ten & Pasq.) and citrange ‘Fepagro C 37' [P. trifoliata (L.) Raf. x C. sinensis (L.) Osbeck.]. We evaluated physical and chemical characteristics of substrates, emergence (%), height (cm), stem diameter (mm) of the seedlings. The Commercial 2 substrate showed high levels of soluble salts and initial density. The Commercial 1 substrate allowed an anticipation in plant emergence of Poncirus trifoliata, ‘Volkamer’ lemon and citrange ‘Fepagro C 37’, but by the end plant emergence was similar among substrates, reaching high percentages for all of them. Both substrates, if handled properly, provide satisfactory citrus rootstock seedling development.

Both substrates, if handled properly, provide satisfactory citrus rootstock seedling development. Testaram-se os seguintes porta-enxertos: tangerineira ‘Sunki’ (Citrus sunki hort. ex Tan.), ‘Flying Dragon’ (Poncirus trifoliata var. monstrosa), citrumeleiro ‘Swingle’ [P. trifoliata (L.) Raf. x C. paradisi Macf.], ‘Trifoliata’ [Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.], limoeiro ‘Volkameriano’ (C. volkameriana Ten & Pasq.) e o citrangeiro ‘Fepagro C 37’ [P. trifoliata (L.) Raf. x C. sinensis (L.) Osbeck.].
