Resumo: A survey aiming to detect antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii in five flocks of sheep in the district of Livramento, State of Rio Grande do Sul, was performed using the Latex Agglutination Test. Antibodies were detected ranging from 21 to 61% in the examined samples. Presence of cats was confirmed in alI the properties. Cases of abortion were not observed although stillbirths were notified in all the farras. Possible causes of these observations are discussed as well as some aspects of the illness.

Possible causes of these observations are discussed as well as some aspects of the illness.  Realizou-se um levantamento sorológico visando a detecção de anticorpos contra Toxoplasma gondii em cinco rebanhos ovinos no município de Livramento, RS, utilizando-se o teste de aglutinação em látex. Foram detectados anticorpos que variaram em um percentual entre 21 e 61% das amostras examinadas. A presença de gatos foi confirmada em todas as propriedades. Não-houve registro de abortos pelos proprietários nos últimos anos, embora houvesse relato de natimortos em todas as propriedades.
