Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the herbicide glyphosate, applied alone or in mixture with 2,4-D ester, on a native pasture soil mesofauna, such as Acari na, Collembola, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera, with no-till soybeans. The experiment was carried out at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS/Brazil, in 1995/96. The following treatments were evaluated: glyphosate at 360, 720 and 1080 g/ha a. e., alone or mixed with 200 g/ha of 2,4-D ester, sprayed in two volumes (50 and 200 1/ha), and an unsprayed control. The results indicate that the mesofauna populations were not affected by the use of glyphosate at all doses, alone or in mixture with 2,4-D, although a decrease in the populations was observed due to a drought period after the treatments.

Objetivando avaliar o efeito do herbicida glyphosate, isolado ou em mistura com 2,4-D éster, sobre os organismos que compõem a mesofauna do solo, entre os quais ácaros, colêmbolos, coleópteros e himenópteros, em campo nativo, com soja em semeadura direta, foi conduzido um experimento na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, no ano agrícola de 1995/96. Avaliaram-se tratamentos com glyphosate nas doses de 360, 720 e 1080 g/ha e.a., iso- ladas ou em mistura com 200 g/ha de 2,4-D, aplicados em dois volumes de calda (50 ou 200 I/ha), além de uma testemunha sem controle. Os resultados do experimento indicam que as populações de ácaros, colêmbolos, coleópteros e himenópteros não foram afetadas pelo herbicida glyphosate, independente da dose testada ou da mistura com 2,4-D; porém, foram diminuídas pela ocorrência de estiagem após a aplicação dos tratamentos.
