A leptospirose é uma das doenças mais importantes da reprodução, nas granjas de criação de suínos no Brasil. No Rio Grande do Sul a doença é de ocorrência muito freqüente, sendo detectada principalmente através de sorologia.A resposta sorológica em rebanhos suínos em nosso Estado tem se modificado quanto aos sorovares de leptospiras que reagem aos testes de aglutinação microscópica, pois em anos anteriores predominavam reações para Leptospira pomona, ao passo que a partir de 1993 tem sido verificado maior frequência de reações sorológicas para Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae e L. bratislava. Este fato merece ser considerado na adoção de medidas de prevenção e tratamento, que são também discutidas na presente revisão.Departamento de Diagnóstico e Pesquisa Agropecuária.
