Resumo: | The effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation - Glomus mosseae, G. fasciculatum, G. etunicatum, G. macrocarpum, Gigaspora margarita, Scutellospora heterogama, Acaulospora laevis and A. muricata - on dry matter (DM) yield, and chemical composition of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor cv. AG-2003), were evaluated under greenhouse conditions. The highest DM yields were observed with the inoculation of G. margarita, A. muricata and S. heterogama. The most effective fungi in relation to phosphorus concentration were A. laevis and G. macrocarpum, while plants colonized by A. muricata, G. margarita and S..heterogama showed higher phosphorus uptake. The highest percentage of root colonization occurred on plants inoclated with A. muricata and S. heterogama. Highcr nitrogen contents were obtained with the inoculation of A. muricata and G. margarita, which did not differ (P$0.05) from those presented by G. faciculatum. Plants inoculated with G. mosseae, G. fasciculatum and G. etunicatum showed higher calcium and magnesium contents, while those inoculated with G. fasciculatum and G. mseae exhibited higher potassium contents. The highest calcium and potassium uptake was provided by plants inoculated with G. margarita, while plants colonized by A. muricata and G. margarita provided the highest nitrogen and magnesium uptake. |

RESPONSE OF FORAGE SORGHUM TO ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL INOCULATIONRESPOSTA DO SORGO FORRAGEIRO À INOCULAÇÃO DE FUNGOS MICORRÍZICOS ARBUSCULARESdry matter yield, nitrogen, phosphorus, root colonizationmatéria seca, nitrogênio, fósforo, raizThe effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation - Glomus mosseae, G. fasciculatum, G. etunicatum, G. macrocarpum, Gigaspora margarita, Scutellospora heterogama, Acaulospora laevis and A. muricata - on dry matter (DM) yield, and chemical composition of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor cv. The highest calcium and potassium uptake was provided by plants inoculated with G. margarita, while plants colonized by A. muricata and G. margarita provided the highest nitrogen and magnesium uptake.
