Chemical and physical characterization of substrates in the production of lettuce plantlets

Resumo: | Knowing the substrates used in the production of plantlets is important because they must provide ideal physical and chemical characteristics for growth in propagation. It was conducted chemical and physical characterization and evaluation of the effect of substrate Horta 2® and its combination with carbonized rice hull in the development of plantlets of two lettuce cultivars (Lactuca sativa L.). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. Treatments consisted of a factorial combination of commercial substrate Horta 2® and this substrate mixed with carbonized rice hull (1:1, 3:1 v/v) and two lettuce cultivars ‘Pira 72 Belíssima’ and ‘Pira 63 Roxa’. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Physical and chemical properties of the substrates and at 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after sowing the plantlet biological responses through phytometric parameters were evaluated. The use of carbonized rice hull with Horta 2® substrate prioritizes the physico-chemical characteristics of these, which is advantageous for the development of lettuce plantlets. |

O conhecimento dos substratos utilizados na produção de mudas é de fundamental importância, pois esses devem apresentar características químicas e físicas ideais ao crescimento. Realizou-se a caracterização química e física e a avaliação do efeito do substrato Horta 2® e sua combinação com casca de arroz carbonizada no desenvolvimento de mudas de duas cultivares de alface (Lactuca sativa L.). O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação. Os tratamentos consistiram na combinação fatorial do substrato comercial Horta 2® puro e da mistura deste com proporções de volume (1:1, 3:1v/v) de casca de arroz carbonizada e duas cultivares de alface ‘Pira 72 Belíssima’ e ‘Pira 63 Roxa’. O experimento foi disposto em blocos casualizados com três repetições. Avaliaram-se as propriedades físicas, químicas no substrato e aos 14, 21, 28 e 35 dias após a semeadura as respostas biológicas das mudas através de parâmetros fitométricos. O uso de casca de arroz carbonizada com o substrato Horta 2® primazia as características físico-químicas destes, o que é vantajoso para o desenvolvimento de mudas de alface.
