Resumo: | The study aims to assess the epidemiological profile of HIV-positive people living in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. People living with HIV are those with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the disease had its peak in the early 1980s, since then it is considered a pandemic, according to WHO data, it has killed more than 40 million people worldwide the world. An estimated 37.9 million people worldwide are living with HIV in 2019 (UNAIDS). In Brazil, according to the “Epidemiological Bulletin HIV / AIDS” of the Ministry of Health (DIAHV / SVS / MS), in 2018, 42,400 new cases of HIV were diagnosed. This is a cross-sectional study, with inclusion criteria for medical records from 2018, both sexes, over 18 years of age. Study approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the University Center of Volta Redonda - UniFOA, under the registration of CAAE nº14393118.2.0000.5237. 154 (100%) medical records were analyzed, with a predominance of men, single, gay, between 20 and 49 years old, complete elementary school. Most of the notification forms attached to the medical record confirmed the non-use of drugs, however the medical notes disagreed with this information. Nevertheless, this work allows comparing the reality found in the region with epidemiological surveys comparing cases of HIV infection with Brazil, the Southeast region and the state of Rio de Janeiro. The research may contribute to health education measures with an emphasis on prevention and improving the quality of assistance to the population. |

The research may contribute to health education measures with an emphasis on prevention and improving the quality of assistance to the population.
