Resumo: | Hypotheses have been suggested for its reemergence of pertussis. This study was aimed at analyzing the epidemiological profile of pertussis cases in children born four years ago, retrospective to the implantation of the dTpa vaccine in pregnant women in the cities of Botucatu and Marília located in the state of São Paulo. It is an epidemiological study, which is descriptive and comparative series in the cities of Botucatu and Marília. Data were collected from (SINAN), of children in the age group between zero and four years old, confirmed with pertussis, in the period from 2008 to 2014. There was a gradual increase of cases from 2011 on in both cities. The seasonality of confirmed cases in Botucatu occurred in the winter (42.86%) and in Marília it was in the summer (35.71%). The age groups most affected by the disease were those younger than one year old in both cities. The distribution of cases by geographic regions showed that in Botucatu the largest case register was in the north (57.14%) and in Marília it was in the south (42.86%). Regarding the vaccination scheme, Botucatu presented a vaccination index of 57.14% in children and in Marília this index was 52.38%. In Botucatu 35.71% of the children presented complications of the disease and in Marília this corresponded to 16.66%. It was verified that only vaccination in children does not guarantee the prevention of the disease, suggesting the implementation of the broader vaccination strategy in the vaccination schedule. |
