Resumo: | Stress has a direct influence on the personal life of all individuals. Occupational stress became one of the main villains that cause illness and physical and mental exhaustion, becoming a major risk for the worker's well-being. Goal: The study aims to assess the prevalence of occupational stress on nurses working in urgency and emergency department. Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional and quantitative study that was carried out with 20 nurses of both genders, residing in the city of Boa Vista-RR, through a self-administered questionnaire on the Google Forms Platform. The questionnaire was sent via the WhatsApp® application via message. Participants had access to the questionnaire only after accepting the Informed Consent Form. To assess occupational stress, a summarized version of the Job Stress Scale (JSS) was used. Results: This research sought to draw attention to the stress that professionals have been facing for having an active occupation, with high psychological demand, considering that 100% (n 20) of the volunteers declare to experience such situation in their workplace. Conclusion: It is expected that this study can contribute to improvements for nurses in urgency and emergency, aiming at greater appreciation, drawing attention to the importance of mental health of those who work in a stressful department. |
