Duration of breastfeeding in women served in the human milk bank

Resumo: Objective: to identify the duration of exclusive and complementary breastfeeding among women assisted in the human milk bank. Method: retrospective quantitative study, conducted from February to May 2019. The sample consisted of 73 women treated at the human milk bank in 2017. Data collection occurred through a questionnaire made in the Google Docs program. The data were analyzed in the Epiinfo software version 3.5.3. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee with opinion 3,265,618. Results: The age range ranged from 18 to 46 years, prevailing married women, primiparous, who were submitted to cesarean section, being unanimous the performance of prenatal care. Most women practiced exclusive breastfeeding until six months and supplemented it for more than two years. Conclusion: It is perceived that the specialized service contributed satisfactorily and effectively to the practice of breastfeeding, considering the percentages presented in their exclusive and complementary forms.

Método: estudo retrospectivo de abordagem quantitativa, realizado no período de fevereiro a maio de 2019. A amostra foi composta por 73 mulheres atendidas no banco de leite humano no ano de 2017. A coleta de dados ocorreu por questionário confeccionado no programa Google Docs. Os dados foram analisados no programa Epiinfo versão 3.5.3. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética com parecer 3.265.618. Resultados: A faixa etária variou de 18 a 46 anos, prevalecendo mulheres casadas, primíparas, as quais foram submetidas a cesariana, sendo unânime a realização do pré-natal. A maioria das mulheres praticou o aleitamento materno exclusivo até os seis meses e o complementar por mais de dois anos.
