Objective: To discuss the resilience of health professionals in facing the new coronavirus, based on a theoretical-reflective study. Methodology: To reflect from the perspective of the theoretical construct of resilience outlined by the author Yunes on the adverse situations experienced by health professionals who are caring for patients with COVID-19. The testimonies were taken from newscasts between March and April 2020. Results: The coronavirus pandemic had serious consequences for health care professionals, thus awakening the need to minimize impacts on their mental health. It is apprehended that the risk factors evidenced externalize the fear of contracting the disease, lack of personal protective equipment, as well as the fear of dying and leaving their children or even being transmitting agents of the disease. Conclusion: The condition observed generates anxiety, anguish, revealing the need and importance of health professionals to also be cared for, so that at the end of this journey they have their mental health preserved.
