PERIPHERAL CENTRAL INSERTION CATTLE (PICC): NURSING PERFORMANCE IN PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY

Resumo: | Introduction: Cancer is a disease that for long years has imposed several challenges to health professionals who deal daily with patients. In this sense, cancer makes children suffer, not only because of the disease, but also because of the practices required for the treatment. Objective: To analyze the role of nurses and/or nursing staff in the use and maintenance of the PICC in children with cancer. Method: This is a study of integrative review with databases such as: Scientific Eletronic Library Online (Scielo), Latin American and Caribbean in Health Sciences (Lilacs), online library bases. Results: It was verified that for the installation and maintenance of the PICC aiming at the quality of life of the child with cancer, the nurse can act individually or in a team and, as an educator, must be constantly qualified, adhere to institutional protocols, besides handling the PICC with safety, responsibility and training. Also, he must consider the child's pain state, so that his practices can be effective in ensuring the quality of patient care. Coclusion: In this perspective, both the nurse acting individually and in a team, must be attentive, and the malpractice in these terms can result in various complications for the child. |

En este sentido, el cáncer hace sufrir al niño, no sólo por la enfermedad, sino por las prácticas necesarias para el tratamiento. Objetivo: Analizar el desempeño de la enfermera y/o equipo de enfermería en el uso y mantenimiento del catéter venoso central de inserción periférica (CCIP) en niños con cáncer. Método: Se trata de un estudio de revisión integradora de investigaciones en las bases de datos: Biblioteca científica electrónica en línea (Scielo), América Latina y el Caribe en ciencias de la salud (Lilacs), bases de bibliotecas en línea. Resultados: Se verificó que para la instalación y mantenimiento del PICC encaminado a la calidad de vida del niño con cáncer, el enfermero puede actuar individualmente o en equipo y, como educador, debe capacitarse constantemente, apegarse a los protocolos institucionales, además de manipular el PICC de forma segura, responsable y cualificada. Además, se debe considerar el estado de dolor del niño, para que sus prácticas puedan ser efectivas para garantizar la calidad de la atención al paciente. Conclusión: En esta perspectiva, tanto el enfermero actuando individualmente como en equipo debe estar atento, y malas prácticas en estos términos pueden resultar en diversas complicaciones para el niño.Introdução: O câncer é uma enfermidade que por longos anos tem imposto diversos desafios aos profissionais de saúde que lidam diariamente com os pacientes. Nesse sentido, o câncer faz a criança sofrer, não somente pela doença, mas devido as práticas necessárias para o tratamento. Objetivo: Analisar a atuação do enfermeiro e/ou equipe de enfermagem na utilização e manutenção do cateter venoso central de inserção periférica (PICC) em crianças com câncer. Método: Trata-se de estudo de revisão de pesquisa integrativa nas bases de dados: Scientific eletronic library online (SCIELO), latino-americana e do caribe em ciências da saúde (LILACS), bases de bibliotecas online. Resultados: Verificou-se que para a instalação e manutenção do PICC visando a qualidade de vida da criança com câncer, o enfermeiro pode atuar individualmente ou em equipe e, como educador, deve se qualificar constantemente, aderir aos protocolos institucionais, além de manipular o PICC com segurança, responsável e capacitado. Também, deve considerar o estado de dor da criança, para que suas práticas possam ser eficazes na garantia da qualidade da assistência ao paciente.
