Resumo: Objective: to analyze the factors associated with the risk of falls of hospitalized elderly. Method: cross-sectional analytical study carried out with 64 elderly people at a University Hospital, in Teresina-Piauí, from February to April 2021. Interviews were used to survey sociodemographic and clinical data and application of the Mini Mental State Examination and the Morse Scale. Spearman's correlation test was performed. The association between variables was performed using Fisher's exact test. Results: average age of 69.9 (±7.59), mostly men (57.8%), married (70.3%), with low education (40.6%), family income from 1 to 2 minimum wages (65.6%), sedentary (67.2%), with comorbidities (82.8%) and continuous use of medication (60.9%), with changes in vision (21.9%) and hearing (75.0 %) and cognitive impairment (25.0%). According to the Morse Scale, 40.0% were at high risk, 33.0% at low risk and 27.0% at medium risk, associating with gender (p = 0.035) and vision impairment (p = 0.042). Conclusion: high risk of falls in 40% of the participants, associated with sex and changes in vision, which reinforces the need for the health team and, in particular, for nursing to manage the risk of falls of hospitalized elderly.

Conclusion: high risk of falls in 40% of the participants, associated with sex and changes in vision, which reinforces the need for the health team and, in particular, for nursing to manage the risk of falls of hospitalized elderly.
