Objective: To reflect on syphilis and the current epidemiological scenario of syphilis in pregnant women in the Subúrbio Ferroviário Sanitary District of the city of Salvador-BA. Method: Theoretical reflection based on data on syphilis in pregnant women presented in the Municipal Health Plan of Salvador 2022-2025 and in the Notifiable Diseases Information System, aimed at the Suburbio Ferroviário Sanitary District of Salvador/Ba. Results: According to the Municipal Health Plan, the incidence rate of syphilis in pregnant women in the Subúrbio Ferroviário has increased in recent decades. These data point to an exponential growth of cases of syphilis in pregnant women, and a serious case of health in the region in question. Knowing that it is a disease that can be quickly diagnosed, easily treated and widely known about the etiological agent, it is possible to think of effective strategies to reduce the incidence rates of syphilis in pregnant women from the perspective of health education. Final Considerations: Syphilis in pregnant women in the Subúrbio Ferroviário has increased in recent years, in line with the national scenario, which demands that primary care services and their workers build strategies and tools to assist this population, such as carrying out actions of educommunication that sensitize the population to the importance of the rapid test, adherence to prenatal consultations and also the treatment of syphilis, both for pregnant women and their partners.
