NATURAL PRODUCTS IN THE HEALING OF SKIN WOUNDS IN A HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT: PRACTICES AND KNOWLEDGE OF NURSING PROFESSIONALS.

Resumo: Objetive: to evaluate practices and knowledge about the use of herbal medicines in the wound healing process among nursing professionals at a university hospital. Metodology: this is a cross-sectional exploratory and descriptive, quantitative study in which 40 professionals were interviewed from February to August 2019. Results: The absolute majority (90%) of the interviewees answered that they do not use medicinal plants in the wound healing process: in addition, they do not have knowledge about the researched theme. More than half of the interviewees (62%) did not have a phytotherapy training during graduation: even so, a greater proportion (87%) are interested in improving knowledge on this subject. Almost all research subjects (95%) consider the use of natural products to be important in the wound healing process. Conclusion: the nursing professionals interviewed do not have adequate knowledge about the use of natural products in the wound healing process, but recognize that they need and show interest in training in this topic.

Metodologia: estudo transversal do tipo exploratório e descritivo, quantitativo no qual foram entrevistados 40 profissionais no período de fevereiro a agosto de 2019. Resultados: a maioria absoluta (90%) dos entrevistados, respondeu que não utiliza plantas medicinais no processo de cicatrização de feridas; além disso, não possuem conhecimento sobre a temática pesquisada. Mais da metade dos entrevistados (62%), não teve formação em fitoterapia durante a graduação; mesmo assim, uma proporção ainda maior (87%) tem interesse em aprimorar os conhecimentos nesse assunto. Quase a totalidade dos sujeitos de pesquisa (95%) acha importante o uso de produtos naturais no processo de cicatrização de feridas.
