Resumo: Objective To identify the relationship between psychological violence, depression and sociodemographic characteristics of elderly people assisted in the hospital environment.Method: Cross-sectional, quantitative, analytical and multicenter study; developed with elderly people in the hospital environment in the municipalities of João Pessoa and Campina Grande-PB, from August 2019 to January 2020; using the BOAS, CTS-1 and GDS-15 instruments; the data being analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: There was a prevalence of psychological violence (55.1%; n=178) and depression (47.1%; n=151). There was an association between depression and sex (p=0.000; n=108), income (p=0.001; n=103) and psychological violence (p=0.003; n=97). Psychological violence showed a negative correlation with the number of children, inferring that the greater the number of children, the lower the probability of suffering violence. Depression was negatively correlated with income (p=0.002) and positively correlated with psychological violence (p=0.001).Conclusions: Elderly women with low income presented depression, and as income increases, the occurrence of depression decreases. Along with psychological violence, these also decrease with the greater number of children. However, psychological violence is higher in elderly people with high incomes and is associated with depression.
