Resumo: Objective: to understand the meanings attributed by Primary Health Care users to a healthy lifestyle. Methods: this is a social, exploratory and descriptive research, of the qualitative type, based on Grounded Theory in Data. Interviews were carried out for data collection with 27 participants, from March to May 2021, based on a semi-structured questionnaire. At first, the question that guided this work was: what does it mean to have a healthy lifestyle for users of Primary Health Care? Results: from the data collection, three concepts, or categories, and their subcategories were developed. The categories are: Restricting the understanding of the meanings of healthy lifestyle; Inferring about the possibility of health determinants as part of the meanings of a healthy lifestyle; and Pointing out the difficulties in adopting a healthy lifestyle. Final considerations: It was possible to perceive that, for users, the meaning of a healthy lifestyle is fragile and fragmented because they basically rely on the pillars of food with fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity and do not encompass all the complexity involved in the concept, such as social and health determinants. Therefore, the construction of the proposed theoretical model allows a glimpse of the gaps in the concept and allows the application of practical strategies in primary care to re-signify the healthy lifestyle by users.

In Derme; Vol. 97 No. 4 (2023): Out.
