Resumo: The objective was to identify the perception of nurses in the family approach during their process of capturing, donating and transplanting organs and tissues. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach, carried out in a referral hospital in the municipality of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, with five nurses working in the Intra-Hospital Commission for Donating Organs and Tissues for Transplants. A semi-structured interview was used as a data collection instrument. Data analysis took place through Content Analysis. The research project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under consubstantiated opinion No. 2.890.870/2018. In the statements collected, after the categorization, the intrinsic importance of the nurse as a link in the process of organ donation and donation was observed. The performance of the professional in the participation of the approach to the family is established, in order to highlight the facilitating and hindering aspects of this approach, with a psycho-emotional involvement between the professional and the family. Therefore, the professional nurse is the mediator in the entire process, from collection to donation. It establishes all the family communication through the approach, in order to guide them on the importance of the process which I had repercussions on the life of another family.
