Profile of elderly hospitalized in a hospital Teresina public

Resumo: Objective: To analyze the profile of the elderly in a public hospital as well as to describe the length of hospital stay and the main causes of hospitalization and comorbidities. Method: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Held in a highly complex public hospital. 122 elderly people participated in the study from December 2018 to February 2019. Inpatients aged 60 years or older were included and patients with unsatisfactory results for Mini Mental State Examination and patients in the Intensive Care Unit were excluded. Results: In the study 62 were female, the most relevant age groups were 66-80 years. Regarding socio-demographic characteristics, the elderly were brown, married, 59 incomplete elementary school and 48 non-literate. Of the respondents, 99 came from other municipalities in Piauí, 77 from the urban area. Regarding family income, 92 elderly people with income of 1 minimum wage and 95 are Catholic. The days of hospitalization the minimum of 01 day, average of 11 days and maximum of 90 days. Among the causes of hospitalization were: Surgical treatment, Fractures, Vascular diseases, Heart Diseases. The comorbidities were: multimorbidities, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and heart disease. Conclusion: It is necessary to invest in the qualification and qualification of professionals of primary health care teams to work on prevention and health promotion, so as to minimize the causes of hospitalization.

Método: Estudo descritivo, transversal com abordagem quantitativa. Realizado em um hospital público de alta complexidade. Participaram do estudo 122 idosos no período de dezembro de 2018 a fevereiro de 2019. Foram incluídos pacientes internados com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos e excluídos pacientes com resultados insatisfatórios para Mini Exame do Estado Mental e pacientes em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Resultados: No estudo 62 eram do gênero feminino, as faixas etárias com maior relevância foram de 66-80 anos. Quanto ás características sóciodemográficas, os idosos eram pardos, casados, escolaridade 59 ensino fundamental incompleto e 48 não alfabetizados. Dos entrevistados 99 provinham de outros municípios do Piauí, 77 da zona urbana. Em relação á renda familiar 92 idosos com renda de 01 salário mínimo e 95 são católicos. Os dias de internação o mínimo de 01 dia, média de 11 dias e máximo de 90 dias. Dentre as causas de internação destacou-se: Tratamento cirúrgico, Fraturas, Doenças vasculares, Doenças Cardíacas. As comorbidades foram: multimorbidades, hipertensão arterial, diabetes mellitus e cardiacos.
