Resumo: The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between the use of QoL measurement scales and the positive impacts on promoting self-care in ostomy patients. This is an integrative literature review carried out from October 2022 to January 2023, which followed the recommendations of the protocols formulated by the Joanna Briggs Institute and PRISMA-ScR. The following systematic tools were adopted: the formulation of the PICO strategy for understanding and formulating the problem question, the choice of CAPES for formulating the descriptors in English and, finally, the use of databases and libraries as the first search engine. With the searches and reflections carried out, it was found that patients tend to face, from the post-surgical recovery period, with several changes in their own bodies, which make it difficult to promote self-care and, in turn, QoL. Among the most seen complaints, the difficulty of adapting and cleaning the collection bag stands out, which sometimes ends up leaking and spreading odor in the environment, generating feelings of discomfort and difficulty in socialization. When health professionals use the QoL scales to understand the patient's most prevalent individual issues, they can outline the best health education strategies, ranging from stoma hygiene and related equipment to rehabilitation in terms of good health habits. health.
