CONSTRUCTION AND VALIDATION OF AN EDUCATIONAL BOOKLET WITH GUIDANCE ON CARE DURING HEMODIALYSIS

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is a condition of a progressive nature, characterized by a gradual and irreversible decrease in kidney function over time. Objectives: To develop and validate an educational booklet on kidney disease for patients on hemodialysis. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive methodological study. The project was approved by the ethics committee for research with human beings at the University and had a favorable opinion number: 5.761.828. Results: A technology was built and validated in the form of an educational booklet, through the Canva Pró graphic design platform, structured in six different topics six distinct topics: Chronic Kidney Disease, Treatment and Complications, Eating Habits, Hemodialysis, Central Venous Catheter Care and Fistula Care. Each topic covers relevant information related to self-care and managing the condition. Discussion: A booklet with some notes on kidney disease and hemodialysis will facilitate the service of the health team and may be used by other professionals when approaching the patient in activities of guidance about the disease, as well as being a tool to help patients and relatives. Patients undergoing dialysis often need to adhere to a strict diet and use medication to control their condition. Conclusion: The prepared booklet will make a relevant contribution to the field of nursing, allowing academics and professionals to appropriate the disclosed knowledge and, consequently, develop new practices and interventions aimed at promoting the health of people with chronic kidney disease.
