Resumo: | The objective of the study was to analyze the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women against infection by Zika virus. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, which sampled 62 pregnant women from the municipality of Cajazeiras-PB. Data collection was performed through a questionnaire adapted based on the Zika virus Infection Management Guide. The statistical information was obtained through the SPSS program (version 22), and presented through tables. A descriptive analysis of relative and absolute frequency was performed, and in the analyzes the level of random sampling for convenience was used. According to the results, the pregnant women affirmed that the nurse professional and the community agent are the ones who gave the most guidance on the subject, and television was the main means of information; in the understanding about the Zika virus has been reported that it is a virus transmitted by the mosquito that causes disease and greater damage to pregnant and newborn; the preventive measures most used by the pregnant women were the use of the repellent; the means of transmission most approached were the bite of the mosquito, and mother to child; with respect to the damages / repercussions for the newborn, fetal malformation was the highlight, followed by microcephaly; the gestational period considered by the pregnant women as the most critical for infection was the first trimester. It is understood that identifying difficulties in the target population allows developing health education strategies in order to make them knowledgeable about the subject and thus more protected against infection. |
