Prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in nurses at a public hospital in Pernambuco: cross-sectional study

Resumo: | Objective: to analyze the prevalence of nurses with signs and symptoms of Burnout Syndrome in a Public Hospital in the city of Recife, a reference in traumatology and orthopedics in the State of Pernambuco. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative research approach, with data collection carried out from May to June 2020, the study was based on the public hospital Getúlio Vagas, a state reference in the area of traumatology and orthopedics. The inclusion criteria were nurses with at least one year of experience in the unit, the exclusion criteria were professionals on leave, on leave for health treatment, and those who could not be contacted after the third attempt. Results: In the hospital, 80% of these professionals had Burnout Syndrome, more specifically in the ICU, 23.1% of the participants had severe Burnout and 46.2% had moderate Burnout. Despite the recent increase in scientific production on BS in health professionals and the high prevalence among nurses from different sectors. Conclusion: institutional policies have not demonstrated the practical application of measures to prevent illness at the same pace, a factor that hinders the dissemination of best practices in worker safety and attests to the harmful character that the working conditions in these services can inflict on physical and mental health. mentality of these professionals. Los criterios de inclusión fueron enfermeros con al menos un año de experiencia en la unidad, los criterios de exclusión fueron profesionales en excedencia, en excedencia por tratamiento de salud y aquellos que no pudieron ser contactados después del tercer intento. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo com abordagem quantitativa da pesquisa, com a coleta de dados realizadas maio à junho de 2020, o estudo teve como cenário o hospital público Getúlio Vagas, referência estadual na área de traumatologia e ortopedia. Como critério de inclusão foi de enfermeiros com no mínimo um ano de atuação na unidade, os de exclusão foram dos profissionais afastados, de licença para tratamento de saúde, e aquele que não foram possíveis entrar em contato após a terceira tentativa. Resultados: No hospital 80% destes Profissionais apresentaram Síndrome de Burnout, mais especificamente na UTI 23,1% dos participantes apresentou Burnout grave e 46,2% Burnout em grau moderado. Apesar do aumento recente nas produções científicas sobre a SB em profissionais de saúde e da elevada prevalência entre enfermeiros de diversos setores. Conclusão: as políticas institucionais não têm demostrado aplicação prática de medidas de prevenção ao adoecimento no mesmo ritmo, fator que prejudica a disseminação de melhores práticas de segurança do trabalhador e atestam o caráter danoso que as condições de trabalho nestes serviços podem infligir na saúde física e mental desses profissionais.
