Resumo: This article presents law as a factor that can contribute to tourism development, from the analysis of aspects of the World Heritage Convention, established by UNESCO, in 1972. Law can be understood as an useful tool to tourism, not only because of its repair mechanisms for social order, but also by a preventive and directive approach. Under this approach, and based on methods and techniques of descriptive search, this paper aims to present the World Heritage Convention as an instrument that contributes for environmental protection and also for induction of tourism in sites of the World Heritage.

O Direito pode ser entendido como instrumento útil ao Turismo não apenas por intermédio de seus mecanismos reparadores da ordem social, de caráter punitivo, mas também sob um enfoque voltado para a prevenção e orientação.
