Resumo: The hospitality is a complex and interdisciplinary phenomenon that sometimes is comprised by the tourism; sometimes its range is wider, what ends up surpassing the frontiers of the type of understanding that reduces it to a synonym of the hotelling or agility on attendance and quality. The present article intends to analyze one part of the issues about hospitality. The beginning of the study of the theory about hospitality happens in two trends: the human exchanges in the archaic communities and the marketing exchanges in the capitalist societies, where the exchange shifted from a cultural and ritualistic value to a commercial value of market exchanges.

A hospitalidade é um fenômeno complexo e interdisciplinar, que ora é abrangido pelo Turismo ora é maior a sua abrangência, o que acaba ultrapassando as fronteiras do tipo de entendimento que a reduz a um sinônimo de hotelaria ou qualidade e atendimento com presteza. O presente artigo pretende analisar uma parte das questões sobre a hospitalidade. O início do estudo da teoria sobre hospitalidade se dá em duas correntes: as trocas humanas nas comunidades arcaicas e as trocas mercadológicas nas sociedades capitalistas, em que a troca passou de um valor cultural e ritualístico para um valor comercial, de trocas de mercado.
