Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the short films “Embracing” (1992) and “Katatsumori” (1994), by filmmaker Naomi Kawase, from the concept of the Essay Film. Both films address the connection from shared memories and affections through the filmmaker's aesthetic. In these productions, feelings are expressed based on a poetic and essayistic reflection brought out by the particular way the filmmaker presents her works and that will be studied here based on the theories developed by Timothy Corrigan (2015).

Esses filmes abordam a relação de memórias e afetos partilhados através da estética da cineasta.
