Resumo: Comparing the documentaries Santiago (2006) and In the Intense Now (2017), by João Moreira Salles, we seek to shift the notion of author introducing how these films, in their essayistic dimension, call for an autobiografiction. The search is for the way in which this conjugation of the self, at first authorial, is a performative self that modulates on two fronts: the self-portraited performance and the inferential performance, which put cinema into play as a process of elaboration of the triad self-image- world.
