Resumo: This research presents a theoretical reflection that rescues the historical path of comics, aiming to analyze the historical and technological evolution of its language, with emphasis on its graphic and plastic advances. The language of comics is discussed throughout the research, as well as some questions regarding its various definitions. It is concluded that the evolution of the media has enabled the development and adaptation of comics to the realities in force, according to their purposes, adding various graphic and stylistic resources to their composition, as well as the change of their plane of expression in detriment of new types of media and the advances in hypermedia technologies favoring their production and dissemination in physical and digital environments.

Durante la investigación se analiza el lenguaje del cómic y algunas cuestiones relacionadas con sus diversas definiciones. Se concluye que la evolución de los medios de comunicación ha permitido el desarrollo y la adaptación del cómic a las realidades vigentes, según sus propósitos, añadiendo diversos recursos gráficos y estilísticos a su composición, así como el cambio de su plano de expresión en detrimento de los nuevos tipos de medios y los avances en las tecnologías hipermedia que favorecen su producción y difusión en entornos físicos y digitales.Essa pesquisa apresenta uma reflexão teórica que resgata o percurso histórico das histórias em quadrinhos, com o objetivo de analisar a evolução histórica e tecnológica de sua linguagem, com ênfase em seus avanços gráficos e plásticos.  Discute-se no decorrer da pesquisa a linguagem dos quadrinhos e a algumas questões referente as suas diversas definições.
