When deciding to fly, a passenger knows that they must undergo inspection procedures to ensure that the flight is smooth and safe. This is a concern that is gaining momentum with increasing globalization and the increased use of air transport in the world. The use of different inspection strategies, the use of equipment with different technologies, and the adoption of measures that require the removal of belongings can sometimes cause a sense of privacy violation and discomfort. However, such measures are necessary to ensure that no person enters security restricted areas carrying objects that may be used in the commission of an act of unlawful interference. Nevertheless, some passengers, especially considering social, political and economic factors, consider themselves entitled to non-compliance with the rules. Thus, this passenger requires the recognition of the security professional as a person exempt from inspection, but on the other hand the professional, due to his position of authority in that space, requires such recognition of the passenger. This is the conflict of two self-consciousnesses, which in order to stay ???alive??? come into conflict. In turn, in some situations, the security professional may act with extreme authority, from authoritative to authoritarian, incurring prejudice and discrimination against passengers marked by color, ethnicity or low financial status. In this sense, in an attempt to find balance in their performance, it is necessary to understand what professionals understand by ???AVSEC Security Awareness??? and how they perceive the importance of their work in promoting civil aviation security in Brazilian airports.
