Resumo: The present scientific work deals with a study focused on the Brazilian public policy on drugs, whose research sought to know the current reality of users and drug addicts, regarding the treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration of people affected by problems with drugs as measures to ensure the health and well-being of mankind since Brazil adhered to the following international treaties: Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 and its scrutiny by the Protocol of 1972, the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, and the 1988 United Nations Convention against Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, with a view to contributing to the global debate on whether or not to release narcotics, whether or not the country needs to comply with this agenda international, in view of the apparent failure of the "war on drugs" announced by and have already decided on other public policies that mitigate the still current and predominant prohibitionist model. In this context, the research sought to know the practical results of governmental actions regarding repression of the cultivation, production, distribution and consumption of banned substances, as well as preventive treatment, as well as the capacity to meet current real demands, its physical and mobile structures, articulations and coordination in the confrontation of this controversial, delicate and labeled question. The study was based on official data and information, in addition to the daily news on the subject, in contrast to other international models and trends. The field of research was cut from the expected repercussions of the theme in the areas of health and public safety, considering the sanitary nature of the pretension of the control of the drugs, as well as the criminal nature of cultivation, production, transportation, distribution, sale and consumption two narcotics.
