Resumo: | The cancer is currently the second leading cause of death worldwide. The head and neck cancer (HNC) is the sixth most common type with some 300 thousand deaths per year. Among the HNC laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is the second most frequent. Despite advances in laryngology the survival rate remains stationary for more than three decades. Based on this the researchers seek markers that can serve as prognostic factors. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the expression of HOXD10 and HoxC8 antigens in LSCC and correlate with the clinical and pathological characteristics with the survival rates. CASUISTIC AND METHODS: We analyzed 32 patients diagnosed with LSCC, 16 initial and 16 in advanced state. For each case we selected the paraffin block with the tumor tissue, and the cuts submitted to immunohistochemical reactions with the Anti-HOXC8 and Anti-HOXD10 antibodies (Abcam). RESULTS: A total of 90.6% of the cases were expressed to HOXD10 and 9.4% for HOXC8. No significant clinical-pathological relationship when the intensity of positivity and markings Correlation of survival in the presence X absence of metastasis and / or recurrence was significant (p = 0.016) as well as X in the presence absence of lymph node involvement (p = 0.012 ). DISCUSSION: In the literature shows variable expression levels in different tumors. Our results showed a high expression of HOXD10 in CECL. Some authors relate their expression with proliferation, which reinforces its role in carcinogenesis. Our findings regarding the HOXC8 show expression levels lower than reported in other tumors. This is the first study to analysis by IHC in the HoxC8 CECL. CONCLUSION: Based on these results, it is concluded that the HOXD10 gene is highly expressed in CECL, as well as the data reinforce the impact of metastasis and / or recurrence and lymph node involvement in patients' survival. Further studies are needed to better understanding of the expression of these antigens in CECL. |

Novos estudos são necessários para maior entendimento da expressão desses antígenos em CECL.Submitted by Fabiano Jucá (fjuca@unicentro.br) on 2017-06-06T17:01:09Z No. of bitstreams: 1 João Frederico Musial.pdf: 1876492 bytes, checksum: 6c1e9f2512c46ffce57eee65bed1116c (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2017-06-06T17:01:09Z (GMT).
