Resumo: The text proposes as an objective to approach the context of the dictatorial period (1964-1985) and show some views of researchers on the politics of memory and the right to truth in the Brazilian case. At first, the text of Konder Comparato (2014) and other authors is used to analyze the period that preceded the dictatorial regime. The political context of the basic reforms intended by then President João Goulart and the internal and external reaction are emphasized. In a second moment, the transition period is analyzed from the text of Bauer (2014). From this perspective, the idea of ​​Ideology of Reconciliation is taken as the key to reading for the democratic transition that occurred in Brazil. Thirdly, memory policies in the Brazilian context and their challenges and limits are investigated

A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica uma vez que se trata de um ensaio teórico. No primeiro momento utiliza-se do texto de Konder Comparato (2017) e outros autores, para analisar o período que antecedeu ao regime ditatorial. Enfatiza-se o contexto político das reformas de base pretendidas pelo então presidente João Goulart e a reação interna e externa. Em um segundo momento é analisado o período de transição a partir do texto de Bauer (2014). Nessa óptica toma-se a ideia de Ideologia de Reconciliação como chave de leitura para a transição democrática que ocorreu no Brasil.
