Resumo: The purpose of this article is to present some socio-historical elements of the dynamics acquired by the Ethics Permanent Committee (CPE) in the Social Work Regional Council in Paraná (CRESS-PR), in an attempt to enhance the professional culture of social workers. Three interviews were carried out with members of the CPE, from 1993 to 2007. It was verified that the CPE constitutes an institutional space for receipt, analysis, and handling of complaints of ethical violations received by CRESS. In the view of the social workers interviewed, it can be observed a concern with the qualitative appropriation of the assumptions of ethics to contribute to the effort of the social workers' entities in establishing the dynamics that process and judge the allegations of ethical violations. It can be concluded that memory is a space that condenses the historical trajectory of social subjects, and its appropriation for purposes of historical record requires an appropriate theoretical-methodological assumption.
