Assistance access and continuity in attention to cervical cancer

Resumo: This article analyzes the gaps in the Unified Health System, in a municipality in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, regarding the control of cervical cancer (CC), adopting access to services and continuity of health care as markers. Among 59 women, located alive, who underwent treatment in Units of High Complexity in Oncology (UNACON), between July and December 2018, therapeutic itineraries of nine women with UCC were reconstructed, from the first symptoms, using semi-structured interviews . The analysis concluded that the stage with the greatest difficulty in accessing the SUS municipal network referred to diagnostic confirmation. The barriers encountered hindered, in particular, the continuity of care, expressing fragility in the articulation between health services. Therefore, greater integration between services and greater investment in professional training are indicated.

Entre 59 mulheres, localizadas com vida, que realizaram tratamento em Unidades de Alta Complexidade em Oncologia (UNACON), entre julho e dezembro de 2018, foram reconstruídos itinerários terapêuticos de nove mulheres com CCU, a partir dos primeiros sintomas, com uso de entrevistas semiestruturadas. A análise concluiu que a etapa com maior dificuldade de acesso na rede municipal do SUS referiu-se à confirmação diagnóstica. As barreiras encontradas prejudicaram, em especial, a continuidade da atenção, expressando fragilidade na articulação entre serviços de saúde.
