Social Work and the Ethnic-Racial Question: historical notes of the debate in the trajectory of the profession

Resumo: This article recovers the trajectory of the ethnic-racial debate in the profession. We emphasize that Social Work in its genesis was an uncritical reproducer of the myth of racial democracy and that over the years it has advanced in the understanding of structural racism and its intrinsic relationship with the system of capitalist exploitation / domination. Such understanding, has served to understand that the fight against racism is constituted as an imperative task and ethical-political commitment of the Brazilian Social Workers.
