The “come out of the closet” of gay cis: a systematic review of the brazilian productions

This study is characterized as a systematic literature review, whose objective was to discuss the process of “to come out of the closet” of cis gay men. The data survey took place during the months of March and April 2020, in the following electronic sources: Google Scholar database, SciELO electronic library and Virtual Health Library (VHL). Nineteen studies published between 2010 and 2020 were selected, from which two thematic units were extracted: homophobia and its historical matrices and the “out of the closet” of cis gay men. It was found that in 2014 there was greater scientific production on the subject and that there is a greater concentration of research in the Psychology area. It is concluded that the process of "to come out of the closet", despite being a violent phenomenon, is necessary for the construction of a positive homosexual identity, in addition to contributing to the fight for civil rights and combating violence.
