Resumo: This communication is the result of systematic observation in the teaching and learning process conducted for seven years bythe theoretical and practical workshops coordination in the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Social Sciences of the Republic University. Triggers proposed of a current and necessary debate: review of key concepts in the social formation, identifying the inherent skills to analytically disaggregate constructs complex discipline that lies at the intersection between theory and practice, between research-intervention. The sources that nourished this action reflection process were observation, interview and monitored information in a questionnaire given to students who participated in these workshops over the years. The reflections that arise from this process also collected contributions of various authors, especially those concerned with the theoretical and practical integration in the shaping of latinamericans social workers.

Se proponen como disparadores de un debate necesario y vigente, la revisión de conceptos claves sobre formación en el campo social, la identificación de las competencias inherentes para desagregar analíticamente el complejo constructo disciplinar que reside en la intersección entre teoría-práctica, entre investigación–intervención. Las fuentes que nutrieron este proceso de reflexión acción, fueron la observación, la entrevista de supervisión y la información recogida en un cuestionario aplicado a estudiantes que participaron de esos Talleres a lo largo de estos años.
