Human development and social work with families in the national social assistance policy (pnas): contributions of Paulo Freire’s pedagogy

Resumo: With the implementation of the Unique Social Assistance System (SUAS), the National Social Assistance Policy (PNAS) is consolidated in Brazil as an important space for access and guarantee of rights related to social security. Having as main focus the scope of basic social protection, this article intends to reflect on the intentions expressed in the documents that subsidize this public policy regarding the objectives of Social Work with Families, highlighting the role of the social worker in the process of human development and formation set in motion by politics. From an analysis of the PNAS publications and having as a theoretical reference the humanizing perspective of the work of Paulo Freire, it was observed that the dialogical and problematizing posture proposed by Freire has effects both in the technical field and in the individual and community development in the policy area.
