Resumo: The preference of agile practices to manage projects comes from the software development field. Based on the similarities between software and innovation projects, this article aims to present how is the literature approach of agile practices on the management of innovation projects. A systematic review of the literature was adopted to reach this target. The results were grouped into three topics according to the relationship between agile practice and innovation: (1) agile practices adopted in projects focused on innovation; (2) innovation as the result of agile practices adopted to manage the projects; and (3) innovative combinations of agile practices to manage projects. No more than 17% of the analyzed articles show the application of agile practices in innovation projects not associated to software development. The main contribution of this study is the evidence that the application of agile practices in projects not exclusively related to software development provides the same benefits achieved in software projects, requiring, however, that some adjustments be made. Such adjustments are greater as the project´s delivery moves away from the digital concept going in the direction of physical products such as hardware or manufacturing. The engagement and autonomy of the project team are essential components in the process of adaptation to the project needs. Beyond that, it´s recommended, according to the literature, to wait for a maturation period before performing efficiency and effectiveness measurements. Contributions to the academia include a better understanding of the different relationships between innovation and the application of agile practices. DOI: 10.18226/23190639.v9n3.06 Ricardo Luis Zanfelicce*, UNINOVE, Brasil Email: rzanfelicce@uol.com.brMaria Helena Costa Resnitzky, UNINOVE, Brasil Email: mariahelenacr@gmail.comAugusto Cezar Romerio de Andrade, UNINOVE, Brasil Email: andradesud@yahoo.com.brRenato Penha, UNINOVE, Brasil Email: renato.penha.12@gmail.comLuciano Ferreira da Silva, UNINOVE, Brasil Email: lf_silvabr@yahoo.com.br Submetido: Julho 2021Aceito: Junho 2022*Contato para Correspondência
