The role of Environmental Education in the implementation of public policies

Resumo: | This article is the result of a lecture given at the I Environmental Education Symposium: different perspectives, which took place at the Cruzeiro do Sul University, in october 2019. The Environmental Education (EE) has as a premise tgo further the limits of formal education, establishing an active communication with the various sectors of society. Every people´s claim reinforces the public participation in political decision-making. The international environmental discussions have shown the importance of EE as a tool for social transformation, whether in formal or non-formal education, in a transversal way. In Brazil, the implementation of EE at all levels of education reinforces the need for popular participation to awaken the sense of collective responsibility towards today's demands. |

A Educação Ambiental (EA) tem como premissa transpor os limites da educação formal, estabelecendo uma comunicação ativa com os variados setores da sociedade. Toda demanda da sociedade reforça a participação pública nas tomadas de decisões políticas. As conferências ambientais internacionais mostraram a importância da EA como ferramenta de transformação social, seja na educação formal ou na não formal, adotada de formal transversal.
